Eating Disorder Therapy
My Approach

Eating disorders are a symptom of a deeper issue. Whether that is unresolved trauma, difficulty tolerating uncomfortable emotions, or internalized societal messages, I help my clients get to the root of what is perpetuating the eating disorder. By treating the issues that caused you to rely on maladaptive behaviors in the first place, we can work towards sustainable change.
My unique approach to body image work provides a comprehensive definition of what body image actually is. I believe that making peace with the vessel which allows you to experience life requires more than tolerating what you see in the mirror. In addition to weight inclusive, body affirming talk therapy, I incorporate a somatic perspective. As we decrease the power of how your body looks, we can work towards establishing safety in the experience of being embodied.
Eating Disorders I Treat
Bulimia Nervosa
Bulimia Nervosa is an eating disorder in which a person experiences episodes of consuming large amounts of food within a short period of time. These binge eating episodes are followed by the use of compensatory behaviors such as vomitting, restriction, exercise, laxatives, or diet pills in order to control one's weight or shape.
Anorexia Nervosa
Anorexia nervosa is an eating disorder in which a person mainly restricts their food intake in order to influence their weight or shape. Behaviors such as exercise, binging, and purging may also be present.
Binge Eating Disorder
Binge eating disorder is characterized by episodes of feeling out-of-control in which a person consumes large amounts of food within a short period of time.
ARFID (Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder)
ARFID is an eating disorder in which a person is unable to adequately meet their nutritional needs, often due to sensory struggles and/or pervasive anxiety related to food. Unlike other eating disorders, this low nutritional intake is not due to an effort to control or manipulate one's weight or shape.
Rumination Disorder
Rumination disorder is an eating disorder in which a person experiences episodes of regurgitating partially digested food. This is usually followed by re-chewing, re-swallowing, or spitting out the food.
